The table does carry a california proposition 65 warning label that says something like: "warning: this product contains chemicals known to the state of california to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. " i'm not sure how serious that is but it may be a concern, especially if you are sensitive to chemicals. The table is sturdy enough but not quite as sturdy as the table it is replacing. It is just a nice basic table with no moving parts. I rated the matching x-back chairs 3 stars because they are not sturdy enough for my taste but the table is fine. Sorry to those who have had tables show up scratched or broken. Ours arrived in very good condition. The table is easy to assemble and even includes a cheap open end wrench. Each leg just bolts on with 2 bolts each. .
